Happy Valentine's Day

Ahhh... the day of love! The boys dressed in pseudo-matching T-shirts that read "Handsome Devil." (side note: I sent these boys to Sunday school and church wearing these! Can someone please regulate me?!?)

Baby Nono loving his duds... well, except I had to take his pants off 5 minutes into our photo shoot because they were too tight! This boy loves to eat...

Gavin, with Mama's minimal help, made a red velvet cake. He stirred, tasted, poured, tasted, spread, tasted, baked, tasted, and tasted the cake until it was PERFECT! As you can guess, someone had a sugar high.

All in all, we had a great Valentine's Day. Even with the scandalous T-shirts!

My MO

Song for a Fifth Child
by Ruth Hulburt Hamilton

Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing and butter the bread,
Sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I’ve grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
(Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren’t her eyes the most wonderful hue?
(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).

The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
For children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

Gavin and Noah's first bath together

Tonight, I decided to give Gavin and Noah a bath together by myself (read: exploded diapers when Matt wasn't home from work yet. Ah, the defining moments of motherhood...) Well, if you can't prevent it, circumvent it, or ignore it; pretend you had this GREAT idea for a fun time. Then smile and act like it all happened as planned... Oh well, someone has to set a bad example.

All in all, both boys had a great time. Gavin helped to wash Noah. Noah laughed at Gavin. Both boys were "nakey, nakey" for a little while after-- one of Gavin's favorite times! Like I said, this was all planned ;)

Cold mornings = boys in Mama's bed

Not sure how you folks up north handle cold weather, but 30 degrees means it is far too cold to change out of our "jammers." Instead, my boys roll around in Mama's bed. (Funny how Gavin calls the bed mine. Not like he sees me in it napping and reading? Humph. Surely, he means it is mine because I make it all the time!)

"Hmmm...I haven't yet decided to use my powers for good...or evil!"

Let's not forget that the "itty, bitty, baby tractors" need to snuggle too!

My little boy is growing up?!?

On January 28th, I noticed Noah's right arm straight up in the air. Hmmm... what is he about to do?
